  3. Stock Albuterol Storage and Utilization

  4. How should the stock inhaler be stored?

The stock albuterol inhaler should be kept in a safe, but unlocked place, that is cool, dry, and away from the sun. Do not lock this medication as it may prevent its use during a respiratory emergency.

  5. Can I use the stock inhaler for a student who doesn't have asthma?

The stock albuterol inhaler can be used on both students with previously known asthma and unknown asthma. Please contact the student's legal guardian prior to use; however, you do not need to obtain prior permission if you are unable to reach the parent. You will follow up with the parent via e-mail, phone, or a letter as a requirement of stock inhaler event reporting.

  6. Can I use the stock inhaler for an adult?

Yes. The inhaler can be used on any person experiencing respiratory distress on the school's campus. In adults, it is important to verify that the individual does not have access to their personal rescue inhaler.
